Reviews
Excellent day touring the blue mountains. We saw the 3 sisters. Had many photos. Had a cider tasting stopped for little apple pies and saw spectacular views. David was fantastic and taught us a lot including the Australian slang. He had tremendous enthusiasm and worked around Road closures and our very specific goals to accomplish a great tour. Would definitely recommend going with David. Research ahead of time to see what interests you He even took us through feather dale personally. to see the kangaroos the wombats and even a crocodile Comfortable van also

It was my brother who found Dave's website. We wanted a flexible Blue Mountain tour that can accommodate us instantly as we don't have enough time left in Sydney. Luckily Dave answered our inquiry right away. Private flexi tour went well, he arrived on time in our hotel, friendly guy and instantly he started giving us trivia about the places we wanted to see, he also suggested some places to maximize our day and see as many as we can.

Hello David, a big thanks to you for your punctuality, your time spent with us as well your presence and generosity. Your trip been really well organized. We were pleasantly surprised about all your explanations about the blue mountains and wildlife in Australia, we had a great day, amazed and full of discoveries, surprises and memories out of too crowded tourists places. Hope to see you again for some great new adventures

My family and I, did the private tour with David. We found it very entertaining, enjoyable and informative. David’s local knowledge of the area was invaluable and helped us beat the crowds along with seeing the best vantage points of the blue mountains. David was very pleasant to spend the day with. We highly recommend this private tour.

Having had to wait nearly 3 years (Covid!) to visit Sydney, this tour with David was well worth the wait. He took us to hidden away gems to see amazing sights with very little in the way of crowds. The tour is very flexible and was planned totally around what we wanted to get out of the day. We would highly recommend Escape Scenes and felt it was very good value for money.

We only had a day in Sydney and decided to book this private tour to the Blue Mountains. We are so glad that we did! David, our tour guide and owner of Escape Scenes was fantastic. He is super flexible depending upon what you want to see and what is important. He adjusts the itinerary to meet your goals. We were able to see everything that was important to us without the headache of a large tour group. We would highly recommend this tour!
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to visit Jervis Bay for dolphins and whales?
Dolphins are visible year-round in Jervis Bay. For the combined experience, visit May to November when you can see both resident dolphins and migrating humpback whales. Peak whale months are August to October. May–June offers northern migration sightings. November offers warm weather with remaining whale activity. June–August is cooler but has the most frequent whale sightings.
What are the chances of seeing dolphins on the cruise?
Jervis Bay is home to over 100 resident bottlenose dolphins that live year-round in the bay. While sightings depend on conditions, most visitors photograph dolphins during the cruise. Marine professionals position the vessel near Plantation Point and Callala where dolphins congregate. These dolphins are friendly, curious, and frequently swim up to the boat and play in the wake.
How much does a private Mercedes transfer to Jervis Bay cost?
Private Mercedes transfer pricing starts from AUD $1,150 for 2 passengers, scaling to AUD $1,650 for 6–7 passengers. This includes luxury transport from Sydney, driver-guide expertise, and flexibility to customise your itinerary. The dolphin cruise is a separate arrangement; pricing depends on which operator you choose. Lunch is at your chosen venue (your cost). Contact us for exact pricing based on your group size and preferred dates.
What should I bring on a Jervis Bay dolphin cruise?
Essentials: comfortable non-slip shoes (decks can be wet), warm jacket (it’s cooler on the water even in summer), sunscreen (reflection off water intensifies sun), sunglasses, and hat. Motion sickness medication if prone (available from local pharmacies). Optional: camera/GoPro, dry bag, extra thermal layer (winter). Not needed: swimsuit (standard cruise), expensive electronics (saltwater risk). Check the weather forecast the day before and dress accordingly.
How long is the dolphin cruise, and what’s included?
Standard dolphin cruises last 1.5 to 2 hours depending on which vessel you choose. Included are expert commentary from experienced guides about the dolphins, Jervis Bay Marine Park, and local marine life. Most cruises include complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits on board. You’ll stay on the boat for the entire cruise. Life jackets are provided and worn at all times. Your private Mercedes transfer from Sydney handles transport logistics; the cruise operator manages the on-water experience.
Is this tour suitable for families with children, elderly guests, or people with disabilities?
Yes. Children 2+ years are welcome (under 1 year not recommended on some tours). Children 2–14 must be accompanied by an adult. Elderly passengers can cruise comfortably on larger catamarans. Passengers with disabilities: check vessel accessibility in advance—some operators offer wheelchair access and easy embarkation. Pregnant passengers: not recommended beyond 24 weeks. Life jackets are available in all sizes. Those prone to seasickness should carry motion sickness medication. In calm conditions (common in sheltered Jervis Bay), the cruise is smooth.
What’s the difference between the catamaran and smaller boat options?
Spacious catamaran: Multiple viewing decks (5 levels), ample space for groups and families, excellent for photography with multiple vantage points, more stable ride, generally larger capacity. Best for families and photography enthusiasts. Smaller, intimate boat: Closer encounters with dolphins, more agile movement to follow pods, limited capacity, more personal experience. Best for couples and adventure seekers. Both are operated by professional crews with excellent safety records. We discuss your preference when you enquire.
Can I bring cameras and take photos on the dolphin cruise?
Yes, absolutely. Bring your camera, smartphone, GoPro, or any photography device. Most visitors photograph the dolphins extensively. The multiple viewing decks on catamarans offer excellent angles. Dolphins often approach close to the boat, creating amazing photo opportunities. Tips: keep your camera waterproof or in a waterproof bag (saltwater spray occurs), avoid using flash (it can startle dolphins), and remember to enjoy the experience in person too. Tag us on social media when you post your photos.
