Your Private Escape
Travelling in a 2023 Mercedes-Benz V300 V-Class, your Blue Mountains day is built entirely around you. No crowded buses, no rigid schedules, no strangers. Just your group with a guide who has been navigating these mountains since 2009 and knows exactly where to go — and more importantly, where everyone else isn’t.
Whether you want to beat the crowds at the Three Sisters, find a secluded waterfall, or spend extra time at the wildlife park — the itinerary is yours to shape. We accommodate up to 7 guests and the day moves entirely at your pace.
Beyond The Famous Views
The Three Sisters are iconic for a reason — but the Blue Mountains go far deeper than the postcard shots. From ancient rainforest floors to sandstone cliff edges that big buses can’t get anywhere near, we’ve spent years finding the spots worth stopping for.
If you’re into photography, we time the day around the best natural light at the most dramatic lookouts — no harsh midday glare, no crowds blocking the shot. And when it’s time to eat, we skip the tourist cafés and head somewhere actually worth stopping for — whether that’s a coffee on a cliff edge or a proper lunch in Katoomba.
Your Journey
Your day begins with a personalised pickup from your Sydney hotel in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz V300 V-Class — no meet points, no hunting for a bus stop. Our first stop is Featherdale Wildlife Park, home to an extraordinary collection of native Australian animals. Book directly through our website and Featherdale entry is included in your tour price — one less thing to think about on the day.
The drive itself is part of the experience. As we head west from Sydney the landscape shifts gradually — suburban streets giving way to eucalyptus forest, then the escarpment opens up and the mountains reveal themselves. We use this time to talk through your interests and fine-tune the day ahead. Touring since 2009, we know exactly how to read a group and build the best possible day around them.

Your Day, Your Pace
The freedom of a private tour is simple — nobody is rushing you back to the vehicle. If you want to linger at a waterfall, browse a village shop or simply sit and take in the view, we wait. No timetables, no headcounts, no next pickup to worry about.
We start the day with a framework, but it’s written in pencil not ink. The itinerary shifts around you — your mood, your interests, what catches your eye along the way. You have full control over what we see and just as importantly, what we skip.
We’d rather you leave having truly experienced three places than rushed through ten. Quality over quantity, every time.
A Glimpse of the Journey
From cliff edge lookouts and ancient rainforest tracks to wildlife encounters and village laneways — every stop is chosen around you. Whether you’re after an easy scenic drive or a proper hiking adventure, we’ll build the day around your pace and fitness level. Here’s just a taste of what’s out there waiting.
FAQs
The main difference comes down to time and freedom. Most coach tours spend the first 90 minutes of the day just looping around Sydney hotels to pick up 50 different people. With us, you’re on the road immediately. We also skip the tourist-trap stops and large crowds, taking you to secluded lookouts that those big buses physically can't get to. You get to see the real mountains, not just the car parks.
Wild kangaroos aren't always easy to spot in the high mountains, so I usually recommend a stop at Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park. It’s the best way to get a personal experience where you can hand-feed kangaroos and see koalas up close. If you’d prefer to try your luck in the wild, I know a few quiet spots in the lower mountains where they occasionally hang out at dusk.
If you’re into photography, I’ll time our day to get the best light at the most dramatic lookouts. Unlike a rigid tour schedule, if we see a waterfall or a view you love, we can simply pull over and take our time. Whether you want to do a 2-hour valley hike or just hop out for 5 minutes to get the perfect shot, we move at your pace, not a bus driver's.
Mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable, and sometimes the mist just won't budge. If we arrive and find the main lookouts are completely socked in, we won't waste your day staring at a wall of white. Because we have total flexibility, we can change the plan on the fly—whether that’s finding a rainforest walk that looks great in the wet, or even heading back to Sydney to spend the rest of your time touring the city sights instead. We'll make sure you get the most out of your day regardless of the clouds.
We usually head into Katoomba to skip the big bus crowds and keep the day moving. I’ve found some top-notch local spots where the service is quick and the food is high quality—from wood-fired pizza and authentic Thai to a quiet local pub that’s perfect for a relaxed but efficient meal. It’s all about making the most of your time, so we’ll pick whatever you’re in the mood for without wasting the afternoon in a queue.
Reviews
Excellent day touring the blue mountains. We saw the 3 sisters. Had many photos. Had a cider tasting stopped for little apple pies and saw spectacular views. David was fantastic and taught us a lot including the Australian slang. He had tremendous enthusiasm and worked around Road closures and our very specific goals to accomplish a great tour. Would definitely recommend going with David. Research ahead of time to see what interests you He even took us through feather dale personally. to see the kangaroos the wombats and even a crocodile Comfortable van also

It was my brother who found Dave's website. We wanted a flexible Blue Mountain tour that can accommodate us instantly as we don't have enough time left in Sydney. Luckily Dave answered our inquiry right away. Private flexi tour went well, he arrived on time in our hotel, friendly guy and instantly he started giving us trivia about the places we wanted to see, he also suggested some places to maximize our day and see as many as we can.

Hello David, a big thanks to you for your punctuality, your time spent with us as well your presence and generosity. Your trip been really well organized. We were pleasantly surprised about all your explanations about the blue mountains and wildlife in Australia, we had a great day, amazed and full of discoveries, surprises and memories out of too crowded tourists places. Hope to see you again for some great new adventures

My family and I, did the private tour with David. We found it very entertaining, enjoyable and informative. David’s local knowledge of the area was invaluable and helped us beat the crowds along with seeing the best vantage points of the blue mountains. David was very pleasant to spend the day with. We highly recommend this private tour.

Having had to wait nearly 3 years (Covid!) to visit Sydney, this tour with David was well worth the wait. He took us to hidden away gems to see amazing sights with very little in the way of crowds. The tour is very flexible and was planned totally around what we wanted to get out of the day. We would highly recommend Escape Scenes and felt it was very good value for money.

We only had a day in Sydney and decided to book this private tour to the Blue Mountains. We are so glad that we did! David, our tour guide and owner of Escape Scenes was fantastic. He is super flexible depending upon what you want to see and what is important. He adjusts the itinerary to meet your goals. We were able to see everything that was important to us without the headache of a large tour group. We would highly recommend this tour!
