Sydney Proposal Tour
You plan the Question - We Take you thereEscape Scenes runs private picnic proposal tours from Sydney. We take you to the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands, the Hunter Valley or the spot that matters to you, and we handle the picnic setup and the proposal photography.
Sydney proposal ideas
The best marriage proposal ideas in Sydney feel natural to the two of you. Popular choices include a harbour sunset, a coastal walk, a winery lunch and a picnic at a clifftop lookout. Our version is a private day out that feels ordinary until the moment you ask, with the whole thing photographed from a distance.
If you're visiting Sydney on holiday, we can pick you up from your hotel or holiday rental and take you somewhere beautiful for the day.
Your proposal only happens once
You've chosen the person, the ring and the moment. What worries you now is everything around it: a busy lookout, a partner who suspects something, bad light, and nobody there to capture the second you ask.
We know how easily a good plan can come apart on the day. We take care of the driving, the setup and the photos, so you can think about what you're going to say.
A driver-guide who knows the area
Escape Scenes has run private tours around Sydney since 2019. Your day is led by someone with industry experience since 2009 and a background in wedding videography, so your driver-guide is also your proposal photographer. We know which lookouts and picnic spots are quiet at which times of day.

How your proposal day works
1. Tell us your plan
Send us an enquiry with your date, your guests and the spot you have in mind. We then talk privately about the ring, the timing and a signal, so we know exactly when to be ready.
2. We take you out for the day
We pick you up from your Sydney home or hotel in our 2023 Mercedes-Benz V-Class. To your partner it's a relaxed day out, and a couple of friends can come along so it looks like a day out for four.
3. We set up, step back and capture the moment
At your chosen spot we set up the picnic, then leave you to it. When the moment arrives, we photograph it from a distance with a zoom lens, and we deliver your edited photos afterwards. Video is available as an option.
One day or More

Proposal FAQs
How does a surprise proposal day work?
You send an enquiry, then we talk privately about your plan. Your partner thinks it's a relaxed day out. We pick you up, drive to your chosen spot, set up the picnic and drinks, and step back. We photograph the proposal from a distance, and we agree the signal, the ring and a backup spot beforehand.
Where can we propose?
We offer the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands and the Hunter Valley, or another spot around Sydney that matters to you. We plan the day around your choice, including the time of day, the light and how busy the spot is likely to be, and we have a second option ready if plans change on the day.
Will she know you're taking photos?
Yes, your partner will know photos are being taken, because photography is part of the package. To your partner it's a day out with photos included, and we keep the camera subtle to start with. We explain it as photos of your day out, which keeps the proposal natural, so your photos show real reactions instead of posed ones. Friends who know the plan can help keep the day relaxed and the camera unremarkable.
Can we have video, and how many photos do we receive?
We deliver a gallery of edited photos after your day, and we agree how many photos you'll receive and when to expect them when you enquire. Video is an optional extra: we set up a camera in advance, framed on your picnic spot, and can add a small microphone for the proposer so the words you say are recorded along with the scene.
What if the weather turns bad?
We plan a backup spot before the day and can change course on the way. If heavy rain or fog makes the day a poor choice, we'll talk to you in advance about moving it to another date, so you're never left guessing on the morning of your proposal.
Can you drop us at our hotel and collect us the next day?
Yes. After your proposal day, we can drop you at your hotel and return the next morning, usually mid-morning, to take you home. The next-day return is booked as a two-day tour, and you book your own accommodation. Tell us your hotel and the time you'd like to be collected when you enquire.
Can friends or family come along?
Yes. Up to 5 guests in total can join, which keeps the day comfortable and leaves room for luggage. Couples can bring one or two friends so the day looks like a normal outing. We agree beforehand who knows the plan and where everyone stands when you propose.
