Private Blue Mountains Tour
Escape The CrowdsForget the rigid timetables of standard bus trips; this is a fully tailored day out for your family or group. Led by a guide with private touring experience since 2009, we build every day around our guests. From the moment we collect you from your Sydney CBD accommodation, the schedule is yours to control.
A Private Blue Mountains Tour Built Around You
You didn't travel all the way to Australia to look at the Blue Mountains through a crowded coach window. Led by a guide with private touring experience since 2009, we help visitors experience this stunning region the way it deserves — completely at your own pace.
Instead of a rigid schedule that rushes you through the main sights, your day is shaped entirely by what you want to see and when you want to see it.
Luxury Private Touring
Travel in a premium private vehicle, meaning no crowded buses or strangers — ever. It is just your group and a guide who knows these mountains intimately, and crucially, knows exactly where the big tourist crowds aren't.
Whether you want to beat the morning rush at the Three Sisters, discover a quiet walking track, or spend time with native wildlife at Featherdale Wildlife Park, up to 7 guests can travel together, in total comfort.
Beyond the Famous Views
The Three Sisters are spectacular, but this 10,000 square kilometre UNESCO World Heritage-listed wilderness holds hidden valleys and lookouts that large buses simply cannot access.
If scenic viewing and great light are a priority for you, we can easily time the day around the best conditions avoiding the harsh midday glare and crowded viewpoints to get the perfect shot. When it is time to eat, we bypass the standard tourist cafés for local spots actually worth stopping for with far fewer customers.
Short on time? We also offer a Private Blue Mountains Half Day Tour — a focused 6-hour experience covering the essential highlights.

Your Journey
Your day begins with door-to-door pickup from your Sydney hotel in a premium private vehicle — no meet points, no hunting for a bus stop. Our first stop is Featherdale Wildlife Park, where you can get up close with koalas, hand-feed kangaroos, and encounter wildlife you won't find on a standard group tour.
As we head west from Sydney, the landscape shifts — suburban streets give way to eucalyptus forest, then the escarpment opens up and the mountains reveal themselves. We use this time to talk through your interests and fine-tune the day ahead.

FAQs
Are private Blue Mountains tours worth it compared to a bus tour?
For most travellers, yes — and the gap is bigger than expected. A bus tour spends the first ninety minutes circling Sydney hotels for pickups, then rushes between the same crowded lookouts every bus visits. With us, you're on the road immediately, seeing spots buses can't reach, moving at your own pace all day. Split across a group, the price gap from a bus tour is often smaller than the experience gap.
How Far are the Blue Mountains from Sydney and how long is the drive?
The upper Blue Mountains sit roughly 100 km west of Sydney, and the drive takes around 90 minutes to two hours depending on traffic and where you're staying. On a full day tour the driving is broken up across the day rather than done in one stretch — the journey west takes in the lower mountains before the escarpment opens up over the Jamison Valley. Door-to-door pickup from your Sydney hotel means no travelling to a meeting point first.
Are your tours flexible enough for photography stops and hikes?
Photography is often a priority, so we time the day around the best natural light at the most dramatic lookouts in Blue Mountains National Park. Unlike a fixed group schedule, if we pass a waterfall or view you love, we simply pull over. Whether you want a two-hour rainforest hike or five minutes for the perfect shot, the day moves at your pace, not a bus timetable.
How much does a full day private Blue Mountains tour from Sydney cost?
Pricing follows a simple tiered structure — a base price covers the group up to a set size, with a per-person fee added for each additional guest. It's genuinely competitive when shared across a family or a few friends, and full pricing is on the booking page. We're always happy to answer questions directly through the contact page or WhatsApp before you commit. A private half day tour is also available for guests with less time in Sydney.
Are private Blue Mountains tours suitable for families with young children?
Private tours suit families with young children better than a group bus ever could. Kids set the pace, not a timetable — an unscheduled break or a grumpy moment doesn't hold up a bus full of strangers. Because the vehicle and itinerary are exclusively yours, the day can pivot around your family from the start: shorter stops, flat pram-friendly walks, wildlife encounters at Featherdale, and a quiet space for a midday nap on the drive. Child seats are available on request.
Do you offer private tours outside Sydney and the Blue Mountains?
Yes — Escape Scenes runs private day tours and extended multi-day tours across New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT and Queensland, not just Sydney and the Blue Mountains. The same fully private, flexible-itinerary approach applies wherever you're headed, whether that's a single day trip to the Hunter Valley or Canberra, or a multi-day road trip with overnight stops. If you're planning something further afield, get in touch and we'll build an itinerary around it.
What's included in the tour, and what do we pay for on the day?
The tour includes door-to-door hotel transfers from Sydney, a premium private vehicle, your driver-guide for the full day, complete itinerary flexibility and refreshments. Attraction entry isn't included — Scenic World tickets and Featherdale Wildlife Park entry are paid separately, as is lunch, so you're free to choose what you actually want to do rather than paying for a fixed package. There are a range of local pubs and cafes to choose from in Katoomba and Leura offering quality food.
What's the difference between the full day and half day Blue Mountains tour?
The full day tour runs approximately 9 hours door-to-door with departures from 8:00 AM, covering more ground at an unhurried pace with time for longer walks and attraction stops. The half day tour is a focused 6-hour version departing from midday, built for guests arriving on same-day flights or working around limited time in Sydney. It can be picked up from your hotel, Sydney Airport or the cruise terminals. Both are fully private with the same flexible approach — the difference is how much fits in the day.
