Every stop is chosen for quality, and how long you spend there is up to you.
Day-by-day itinerary
Morning departure — 8:00am
We pick you up from your Sydney hotel or agreed location, heading north across the Hawkesbury River and into Australia's oldest wine region.
Coffee stop
A short stop along the way for coffee and a stretch of the legs before continuing into the Hunter Valley.
Allandale Winery — arrive approx. 10:00am, depart 10:45am
Your first tasting of the day at this boutique, family-owned winery known for its Hunter Semillon and Shiraz. Take your time and ask questions — there's no schedule pushing you along.
McGuigan Wines — arrive approx. 11:00am, depart 12:00pm
Located at Roche Estate, McGuigan is one of the Hunter's most recognised family winemakers. You'll taste from their award-winning range, including the Black Label series.
Lunch at Harrigan's Hunter Valley — arrive approx. 12:15pm, depart 1:15pm
A relaxed midday stop at this Hunter Valley institution, or a similar venue depending on your preference. Lunch is at your own expense, typically $20–40 per person, giving you full choice over what you eat.
Pokolbin Distillery — arrive approx. 1:30pm, depart 2:15pm
Before heading back, a stop at Pokolbin Distillery for their small-batch organic gin, vodka and liqueurs, tasted in a signature test-tube format inspired by Australian botanicals.
Return to Sydney — arrive approx. 4:30–5:00pm
We aim for a relaxed drive back into the city.

How much does a private Hunter Valley tour from Sydney cost?
A private Hunter Valley tour with us starts from $1,350 for two people, including three tastings across Allandale Winery, McGuigan Wines and Pokolbin Distillery. Additional guests are $100 per person, up to a maximum of 7 passengers, and the vehicle is exclusively yours for the day. Lunch is at your own expense, typically $20–40 per person.
What's included in a private Hunter Valley tour?
Your day starts when we arrive at your door in a premium private vehicle, exclusively for your group with no other passengers. You'll get three included tastings — Allandale Winery, McGuigan Wines and Pokolbin Distillery — plus door-to-door pickup, WiFi and refreshments throughout the day.
Can I customise my Hunter Valley itinerary?
The route and venues — Allandale, McGuigan and Pokolbin, with lunch at Harrigan's — are fixed to keep the day running smoothly and get you back to Sydney by around 5:00pm. Within that, the pace is yours: more time at a winery, a shorter lunch, or swapping the distillery for time at Roche Estate. Just let us know when you book.
Do you offer hotel pickup from Sydney for Hunter Valley tours?
Yes, we offer door-to-door pickup from anywhere in Sydney CBD, the Eastern Suburbs, North Shore and surrounding areas. Pickup is typically between 7:00am and 8:30am depending on your location, and your day starts the moment we arrive.
Is a private Hunter Valley tour good for couples and special occasions?
Yes — private tours work well for anniversaries, birthdays and other occasions because the vehicle and itinerary are entirely yours, with no other passengers on board. Mention any special touches you'd like when you book and we'll see what we can arrange.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least a week ahead to confirm venue availability, since we take on a limited number of tours each month. If you're planning something last minute, reach out anyway — we'll do what we can to fit you in.
Do you offer private tours outside NSW?
Yes — we run private day tours and multi-day tours across NSW, the ACT, Victoria and Queensland. Get in touch if you're planning a trip beyond the Hunter and we'll put together an itinerary.
